Worth the Drive From Maple

Maple grew up around the crossroads of Major Mackenzie Drive and Keele Street, and the old village core is still there. Today the community also takes in the Vaughan Civic Centre, Maple GO station on the Barrie line and newer family streets off McNaughton Road and Rutherford Road, and plenty of residents spend part of every weekday commuting on Highway 400.

Let us be upfront about one thing: there is no Cryotherapy Toronto location in Maple. Our one studio sits in North York at 4646 Dufferin St, about 20–25 minutes south off-peak. Founder Roman Gersh opened it in 2013 as one of Ontario's first dedicated cryotherapy centres, it is still family-owned and independently operated, and we have delivered more than 15,000 sessions since.

Several Maple routines lend themselves to cold therapy. Golfers at Eagles Landing or Maple Downs may finish a season with a stiff shoulder, elbow or lower back. Hockey families spend long winters in local arenas, and adult recreational players have their own aches to manage. Commuters often carry neck and back tightness from hours behind the wheel and at a desk. And some adults living with joint pain, whether in the knees, hips or wrists, simply want a drug-free complement to the care they already receive.

Our work centres on cold: whole body sessions in an open-top cryosauna, targeted cold for one sore area, and quick cold-air facials, with red light therapy and NormaTec compression offered as add-ons. Every first visit begins with a free one-on-one consultation that reviews your health history, goals and contraindications before any cold exposure, and a trained technician is present for every session.

We are also plain about the evidence. Research on cryotherapy is limited and still developing, so we describe what many clients find rather than promise particular outcomes, and we see it as something that sits alongside advice from your doctor or physiotherapist. For most Maple clients, the drive is the bigger time commitment; the cold itself lasts only two to three minutes.

Routes From Maple

Off-peak, most trips from Maple take about 20–25 minutes, depending on your starting point and chosen route. Highway 400 suits the west side near Jane Street, while Dufferin Street and Keele Street suit the village and points east. We are at 4646 Dufferin St, just south of Finch Avenue West and about 2 km north of Highway 401. Sessions are by appointment, so book ahead and allow extra time at rush hour.

  • Highway 400 to 401 — Take the 400 south, the 401 east to the Dufferin exit, then north about 2 km.
  • Dufferin Street — From Major Mackenzie Drive, Dufferin runs south through Vaughan to the studio, just south of Finch.
  • Keele Street — From the village, take Keele south, turn east on Finch Avenue West, then south on Dufferin.
  • Canada's Wonderland area — Near Wonderland or Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital, the Major Mackenzie interchange puts Highway 400 within easy reach.

How Does Whole Body Cryotherapy Work?

Whole body cryotherapy is brief by design. Inside an open-top cryosauna, nitrogen vapour brings the air around your body down to between −110°C and −195°C, while your head remains above the cabin's edge, clear of the vapour. A trained technician is present throughout, and sessions are capped at three minutes. Your skin cools fast while your body works to hold its core warmth. Once you step out and rewarm, many people notice a lift in alertness and mood. Longer-term research remains limited.

Possible Benefits, Stated Plainly

Evidence for cryotherapy ranges from promising to thin, and responses differ from one person to the next. With that caveat, here are the goals that tend to suit cold therapy best.

  • Golf-season aches: After a round or range session, cold may help a tight back or shoulder feel easier.
  • Rink recovery: Some adult players use cryotherapy for recovery between games, though research on muscle soreness is mixed.
  • Commuter stiffness: Long 400 commutes and desk days can stiffen the neck and back; targeted cold may help.
  • Joint comfort: Adults with arthritis or achy knees may find short-term relief, a drug-free complement to medical care.
  • Midweek energy: Many clients describe feeling more alert and upbeat afterward, making a midweek visit a useful reset.
  • Fresher-looking skin: A cryofacial aims cold air at the face, neck and scalp, reducing the look of puffiness.

Your First Appointment

Book ahead by phone, since every session is by appointment, and leave about 30 minutes for the whole visit. It opens with a free one-on-one consultation covering your health history, goals and contraindications, followed by a personalised plan. Bring underwear to wear in the cryosauna, plus a sports bra for women; we supply thermal gloves, socks, slippers and ear protection. Coming from a round of golf or a practice? Dry off thoroughly first, because skin must be dry before any cold exposure.

Cryotherapy in Maple FAQ

Where can I get cryotherapy near Maple?
Our only studio is at 4646 Dufferin St, North York, about 20–25 minutes from Maple off-peak by Highway 400, Dufferin or Keele Street. Without a car, the Barrie line runs south from Maple GO and TTC buses run along Dufferin Street and Finch Avenue West; a trip planner shows the best connection.
Is there whole body cryotherapy Maple residents can book Saturdays?
Yes. Our hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm, and Saturday, 10am to 4pm, and every session is by appointment. Saturday slots may suit Maple families juggling weekday commutes and weekend hockey. Call (416) 509-4555 or use our contact page to book; a first-time whole body trial is $40 plus HST.
Do packages make sense from Maple?
They can. Whole body singles are $60, or 5 for $275, 10 for $500 and 15 for $720; localized and cryofacial singles are $45, all plus 13% HST. Packages never expire, which helps when golf or hockey schedules fill up, but each is tied to the purchaser; gift cards cover anyone else.
Can cryotherapy help golf soreness?
It may. For a single trouble spot, localized cryotherapy directs cold air at one zone, such as a shoulder, elbow or lower back, with no downtime. An intro session is $35 plus HST. Some people notice a difference after one visit; others need several. Persistent pain should be assessed by your doctor.
What should hockey parents know?
Anyone under 18 needs parental consent and medical clearance before a session, and the consultation screens every client for contraindications such as seizure disorders, cold-induced asthma and circulatory conditions. Some parents may prefer to try a session themselves first, so they know exactly what two to three minutes in the cryosauna involve.
Is cryotherapy for joint pain worth trying?
It can be a drug-free complement to your current care, not a replacement. Research is limited, but many clients find short-term relief from stiffness. Tell your doctor first and review our contraindications list: uncontrolled high blood pressure, Raynaud's, pregnancy and several heart conditions mean whole body cryotherapy is not suitable for you.

Cryotherapy Near Maple, by Season

Maple's year has a rhythm, and the reasons people book shift with it. Here is how we suggest using cold therapy across the seasons, based on our standard services and frequency guidance. None of it replaces your doctor's advice.

Golf season

From spring to fall, rounds and range sessions load the shoulders, elbows and lower back. Localized cryotherapy fits this well: one focused zone per session, with nearby related areas often included. Separate regions, such as an elbow and a knee, may cost extra, so mention both when you book. If pain began with a specific injury, see your doctor first.

Hockey season

When the arenas fill up, adult players may prefer a whole body session between games. NormaTec compression boots are available as an add-on, and Bundle & Save add-ons start from $30, which keeps a combined visit efficient on a busy weeknight. Ask about pairing options when you call.

Commuting months

If you work south of Highway 401, the studio is about 2 km north of the Dufferin Street exit, an easy stop before heading home up the 400. A targeted neck or lower-back session is quick and involves no downtime. Weekday appointments run from 9am to 6pm.

Joint pain, any month

Adults exploring this option should read our arthritis and chronic pain page and keep their doctor informed. Some people feel relief after one session; for chronic issues, most see the best results with two to three sessions a week, and your technician will recommend a schedule.

Before you book

  1. Read the contraindications list, which covers heart, circulatory and cold-sensitivity conditions.
  2. Note every area that bothers you, so the technician can plan your sessions around it.
  3. Decide whether a single visit or a package suits your schedule and goals.
